The series references classical sculpture, where one can often see draped fugures. While it is not possible to take the draperies off as the whole sculpture is created from a single piece of stone, the level of execution makes the talent and skill of a creator evident. In this series what is left is a ‘shell’ of the body covered in fabric. The series explores the themes of sensuality, presence and the beauty of the making process at the same time intriguing the viewer whether these are found shells or precious stones or man made objects. For that the candle making technique is transformed and developed to work with a mix of natural materials developed through years of experiments. As opposed to classical sculptures, which normally depict a particular person, these develop their own character and appearance through the process of making.
