Applications are now open for the second edition of the First Book Grant (2025), which aims to encourage new waves of individuals to engage in literary writing projects that are open to multiple forms and genres, and to support them in producing and publishing their first books, in a learning journey that combines editing, publishing, and meeting the public, making the process of completing the first book a rich and enriching experience of dialogue and creative confrontation, which can lead to a more mature production than the experiences of publishing the first literary book often appear.
The grant is implemented in three phases:
First: The stage of submitting applications and evaluating literary manuscripts by an independent arbitration/reading committee, and selecting a short list that includes, at most, 10 literary projects that the committee recommends working on for publication.
Second: The stage of developing the manuscripts included in the shortlist and preparing them for publication, by providing supervision and literary editing, where necessary.
Third: The publishing stage, launching books, and meeting the public.
