"Democracy cannot defend itself by giving up on itself." This quote comes from none other than Hans Kelsen, the "father" of the Austrian Federal Constitution.

Inspired by Hans Kelsen, the 3rd edition of the Ottakringer Art Prize 2025 addresses the central questions of our coexistence. It is intended to offer both the submitting artists and the visitors to the exhibition in the spring an opportunity to engage with privileges that have apparently become self-evident.

The award of any prize is linked to participation in the exhibition. If the selected artwork cannot be made available for the period of 2 weeks before or after the opening date, May 15, 2025, or if the artists concerned cannot be reached during the specified period, the prize in question will be awarded to the next in line.
