Open call! Kyrkerud Folk High School - Art School in Värmland offers the opportunity for you who are artists and craftsmen to work and live at the school for three months.

Kyrkerud is beautifully situated by Lake Västra Silen on the outskirts of the small community of Årjäng. Here you live in the neighborhood of the Värmland forests and at the northern mouth of the vast lake system that forms the Dalsland Canal. Despite the noticeable presence of wilderness, both Oslo and Karlstad are within close distance.

Kyrkerud Folk High School is one of five folk high schools that are part of the Region Värmland organization. At Kyrkerud, teaching has been conducted for just over 100 years, of which the last 55 years have focused on art and creativity. The school also has a branch in Säffle, but it is at the school in Årjäng that the residency is held.

During your stay you will have a unique opportunity to develop your artistry in a calm and undemanding environment while gaining insight into an educational activity where you can learn lessons for a future role as a teacher or project manager in artistic activities. You will have your own studio and access to our spacious premises and well-equipped workshops.

Time limit: 3 months. Starting September 14, 2025.

Documentation and reporting: We want ongoing documentation and visibility through, for example, photography, digital media, open lectures and workshops for the public. We also encourage collaborations with local artists and artisans.

The residency will be presented in an exhibition at the Passagen gallery in the municipal library at the end of the residency period. The school also hopes to have a permanent imprint in Kyrkerud's sculpture park.
