The Ink Shop Printmaking Center offers an annual Fellowship Grant to a printmaker or book artist. The Fellowship, funded in part from a generous contribution from the Kahn Family, provides an artist with the time and resources to create a new body of work. The Fellow is granted a full year membership to The Ink Shop with 24/7 access to studio and equipment, and is given the opportunity to present this work in a gallery show. The Fellowship enables the artist to participate in Ink Shop exhibitions and portfolio exchanges, and to partake in all aspects of The Ink Shop’s day-to-day management. The Fellow helps with exhibition programs and covers some shop hours. 

The next Fellowship begins May 15, 2025 and ends February 15, 2026.

  

The Fellow will be offered a stipend of $2000 and all the benefits and privileges of a Printmaker Associate. The Fellow may teach workshops and/or edition for other artists (for which one could be paid additionally as an independent contractor). The Ink Shop will provide technical advice, guidance, and assistance in production and use of equipment. For the month of February 2025 the Fellow will have the opportunity to present a Solo show.

Science Gallery Monterrey invites artists, researchers, community activists and critical thinkers to submit existing, interdisciplinary artistic and research projects for our next exhibition centered around the theme of **CONSCIOUSNESS.** The exhibition will open in October 2025.

  
Science Gallery Monterrey is a space where artistic and scientific modes of thinking collide to push the boundaries of knowledge, catalyzing novel ideas that offer innovative perspectives and solutions to current challenges. 

  
One of the most intriguing paradoxes confronting researchers today is the nature of consciousness. While scientific knowledge is generated by the activity of the conscious mind, science is still unable to understand what consciousness is, how it works, where it exactly resides or how it comes into being. 

  
The answers to these fundamental questions about consciousness have become increasingly urgent in the last few years. This derives not only from the fact that emergent AI technologies aim to produce self-conscious digital learning systems, but also from recent discoveries that vertebrates and invertebrates, across a range of sizes and complexities, have varying forms and degrees of awareness.

  
**Potential subthemes**

* The mind-body duality vs. the AI-machine duality.
* Can science objectively describe the subjective?
* Could a droid enjoy the taste of an apple?
* Do plants experience forms of consciousness?
* The distinction between robot and human consciousness.
* What is it like to be a fruit fly?
* The use of scientific tools to study the nature of dreams.
* Are quantum events the building blocks of consciousness?
* Frankenstein’s creature or Hal: replicas of consciousness made of artificial neuronal organoids.

Projects selected through our open call will be funded up to MXN 150,000 (One hundred fifty thousand Mexican pesos). This budget includes all licensing and artist fees, as well as flights and hotel accommodation for the artist should they choose to attend, plus freight, insurance, and other related costs. **Please note that this is a maximum amount, not a target amount**. No funds will be allocated for production expenses, including materials, tools, or professional services. 

  
Please include in your proposal a rough breakdown of the projected costs for licensing your project to Science Gallery Monterrey for **eight** months. Science Gallery Monterrey will not permanently acquire any of the proposals selected through the open call.

  
**What is the exhibition space like?**

The exhibition will take place at Science Gallery Monterrey, located on the ground floor of the Expedition building. It is part of the Innovation District of Tecnológico de Monterrey, in Monterrey, Mexico. 

  
We operate in a 9x20-meter exhibition space with a 3.5-meter ceiling and exhibition area with doors that open onto a public space. Proposals should consider sharing the total space with six to eight other works. For this reason, **we will favor pieces with a footprint not larger than 20 square meters.**

CONSCIOUSNESS: Call for Submissions

Canal Convergence seeks proposals for outdoor, temporary public artworks to be featured in and around the Arizona Canal at the Scottsdale Waterfront in Scottsdale, Arizona. Canal Convergence will be on view for 10 nights, from Nov. 7–16, 2025\. Some projects may be selected to remain installed for an additional 1–2 months after the Canal Convergence event dates. This year’s central theme is “Showtime!”

  
 This call specifically targets outdoor, light-based installations. Nighttime presence/activation is required; daytime presence/activation is encouraged.

  
**A**rtwork Considerations for Canal Convergence 2025:

* Propose an artwork that speaks to the 2025 featured theme, Showtime!
* Present multiple (2-3) installations for the event that can be shipped to and from Canal Convergence in the same truck, container, etc.
* Propose art installations that can be located in smaller, more narrow sections of the ground, ground that is not level, and/or integrated into the landscaping without damaging or destroying any plants.
* Submit art installation proposals that do not require 24-hour security.

  
This call is Phase I of II. Phase I asks artists to focus primarily on the proposal concept, images, rendering, and estimated total budget. Once Phase I closes on April 23, 2025, up to 30 proposals will be selected for Phase II via Scottsdale Public Art staff review. These artists will be asked to provide more detailed information on their proposals, which will be presented to a final selection panel composed of Scottsdale Arts staff and advisory board members, the city of Scottsdale and Salt River Project staff, and community stakeholders. Required additional information for Phase II will include, but is not limited to, a detailed timeline, itemized budget, support crew, heavy equipment and power requirements, etc.

Call for Artists: “Humanity” – An International Exhibition

**Contrast!, Issue 4 is an exhibition and a publication surrounding the theme and concept of contrast- what it means in art and how it is portrayed. We encourage you to take the idea as conceptually or literally as possible, as it is a form of creative research on how contrast as an concept appears in art.**

  
This is the final edition of the Contrast publication and there will be no more Contrast publications thereafter. Therefore the exhibition will span two months in total to celebrate this.

The "Luis Ferreira Alves International Photography Competition | A Contemporary Look at Architecture" is a biennial programme. It aims to honour the person and the work of this outstanding photographer, who bridged the gap between analogue and digital photography and whose work is recognised both nationally and internationally.

  
Luis Ferreira Alves' photographic work demonstrates a remarkable ability to create a unique perspective, both "objective" and "subjective", on the work of various renowned Portuguese architects, including Álvaro Siza Vieira and Eduardo Souto de Moura. His images convey an intimate understanding of these architects—both Pritzker Prize winners—and the architectural spaces they designed. While it is true that Luis Ferreira Alves offers us visually striking documents of architectural spaces and forms, his perspective, shaped by centuries of visual culture since the Renaissance, goes beyond mere representation. His work reveals a deep understanding and appreciation of architecture due to his close relationship with the practice and discipline itself.

  
**Main Objectives**

  
* To promote a deep understanding of the practice and discipline of architecture, both in Portugal and worldwide, within broader sociocultural, artistic, technical, political, and historical systems, through the lens of photography.

  
* To communicate the significant and unique relationship that a photographer can establish with an architect and their work. We believe that this nuanced understanding is an important lesson from Luis Ferreira Alves’ architectural photography, and something that this Competition seeks to foster and strengthen, especially at a time when architecture is increasingly consumed through images.

A Contemporary Look at Architecture

**CCA Islands offers CCA Travel Scholarship for emerging artists**, curators, architects, designers and those who aim to be a professional in various areas of contemporary art and culture, **pursuing their research and creative activities in Japan**.

The scholarship offers research expenses of JPY 200,000 and covers one return transportation fare (only to/from Japan) according to CCA Islands terms and conditions (In the case of residing in Japan, transportation expenses for one round trip between the two locations in Japan is provided).

**Art Jameel launches a Curatorial Open Call for exhibition proposals, to be developed for Hayy Arts’s first floor gallery at Hayy Jameel in Jeddah for May 2026.**

  
Art Jameel is interested in exhibition proposals that engage with themes pertaining to the Red Sea – including but not limited to its connected geographies, histories, ecologies, or the movement of people and ideas.

  
The awarded curator will work alongside the Art Jameel team who will provide guidance on the exhibition’s development, exhibition production and design, logistics, and installation.

  
**Deliverables:**

* An exhibition \[group or solo\] to be delivered in the first-floor gallery of Hayy Arts for May 2026.
* Full exhibition concept including checklist of loan-able works.
* One curatorial essay \[between 3,000-5,000 words\].
* captions and interpretive texts.
* A proposal for 2-3 public programmers related to the exhibition concept.
* The selected curator must act as the main point of contact for liaising with artists and the institution and be available for interviews virtually/ in-person in Jeddah during the exhibition run.
