Overview

The City of Linz is establishing a funding program to enable Linz artists and independent art and cultural initiatives to invite artists or cultural workers working outside of Austria to Linz for a joint project.

The funding program “LinzIMpORT” is intended to support artists and independent art and cultural initiatives with a connection to Linz with experimental art. LinzIMpORT projects aim to achieve the following effects:

  • Positioning Linz as a modern cultural city with the priorities set out in the Linz Cultural Development Plan (KEP)
  • Building networks and contacts between local and international art and culture scenes and creating added value for Linz art and culture activists
  • sustainable impulses for a vibrant independent art and culture scene in Linz
  • Promoting interdisciplinary artistic creation processes and enabling artistic work in Linz with artists who work outside of Austria.

Target group

  • Artists and cultural workers – regardless of their nationality – with a connection to Linz
  • artistic and cultural associations, initiatives and project groups (regardless of legal form) in the field of contemporary, innovative art and cultural work based in Linz

Applications from all artistic disciplines are accepted.

Projects that have already started or been completed cannot be submitted. The expert jury will discuss and evaluate the submitted proposals based on the following quality criteria:

  • innovative potential
  • Coherence of ambition and feasibility
  • Balance in project participation between cultural/artistic “imports” and representatives of the Linz art and culture scene
  • lasting impact on the internationalization of Linz's art and culture scene
  • Potential for future cooperation
  • local uniqueness (justification of the project in the context of Linz)

Necessary documents and appointments

  • fully completed application form (online)
  • Detailed project description with a presentation of the contents and objectives (max. 10 pages)
  • detailed schedule of the implementation
  • a description of the applicant's previous artistic/cultural activities (short biography, list of works, diploma, press reviews, etc.) as well as a declaration of participation from the international project partners
  • As accurate a calculation as possible of the necessary financial resources (possibly offers)
  • Short description of the project (max. 1000 characters) and short summary of the self-presentation (500 characters)
